There is nothing more intimate, personal, and special than having a backyard wedding, and that’s exactly what Lucy + Grant did! Their Nashville wedding day was full of love and loved ones, exactly how it should be.
Lucy + Grant recently moved to Nashville from LA for Grant’s job, and they eloped right after they moved east. Then, once they were settled in Nashville, they wanted to have a small backyard wedding for family and friends to help them celebrate.
I met these lovebirds through a referral, and I’m so glad I did! We quickly bonded over our love of travel and film photography. Fun fact, I shot film at this wedding that I cannot WAIT to get developed and share with you!
for a down to earth wedding and the white modern farmhouse their backyard wedding was at was absolutely perfect. It was so homey inside and truly made her vision come to life. I know I loved it!
Having a backyard wedding definitely lends itself to a more DIY type wedding, and Lucy really ran with that! She designed everything herself, including the florals. Not only that, but she did her own makeup, had a friend help with her hair, and had her dress customized with the tulle shoulder bows. She definitely has the perfect creative eye for something like this!
Lucy + Grant were such a dream to work with. They were so laid back and focused on the love of the day, not just between them but also with their friends and family.
The bride and groom photos we got under this canopy of trees were so pretty. Getting to play with the sun peaking through the trees made for some beautiful wedding photos they can cherish forever!
I have a lot more flexibility and can get more creative which I love. The additional time smaller weddings have allows more freedom to experiment! I had time to capture everyone getting ready all the way through to some of the dinner and reception. It was important to Lucy + Grant that the photos showcased their family and friends, and with a more laid back wedding like theirs, I was able to do that! There’s nothing like being able to catch little moments not only between the bride and groom, but also between other family members.
Overall, it was such a dreamy day that I feel so honored to have been a part of. If you’re considering a backyard wedding – do it!! And make sure you let me know so I can capture every moment for you!
