Beautiful Destination Elopement in Maui – Erica + Drew

One of my favorite

destination elopements I’ve had the pleasure of shooting was for Erica + Drew in gorgeous Maui, HI. It’s hard to put it into words, but I promise, an elopement in Maui was as dreamy as you could imagine. It was an unforgettable day full of love and spectacular views.

I met Erica and Drew when I shot an elopement in Alaska. We got to know each other during that experience and had such a great time. There was some definite bonding over how my husband and Drew are so alike, and I was so excited when they reached out to me about their own elopement in Maui!

When it came to her big day, Erica wanted a very classy wedding look but with jungle vibes, and I think she nailed it with this destination elopement! It all came together so beautifully with the invitations, her dress, the flowers, and, of course, the stunning location.

This destination elopement was so much fun for so many reasons, but particularly because I had the opportunity to help more than just capturing all the amazing moments. I made the timeline for the day to help it run smoothly and helped style it as well. I love to be as involved in the process as my clients would like me to be.

Erica’s mom did her hair, which needed to be tamed a few times due to the wind after the ceremony! And Haley from Alluring Looks did her makeup. She looked amazing!

Can’t forget about Drew, looking so perfectly dapper and beachy in his cream colored suit. Beach wedding groom fashion on point! He was a little shy in front of the camera at first, but he quickly opened up. I always make sure we do everything we can to have everyone feel comfortable so we can get the best photos.

A really special moment was Erica’s first look with her dad. The love on his face when he saw her is so sweet. I love that they’ll have these photos to cherish that moment forever.

We had so many beautiful locations around Maui to take photos, and we definitely took advantage! I loved that we could just drive around and stop where ever to shoot if we wanted. There were some beaches I needed to get permits to shoot on (something to keep in mind if you’re planning to elope in Hawaii), but otherwise, it was pretty much free rein! We had to hike a little to get to some of the spots, but the extra effort was always worth it. Giving yourself time to drive around like this for your elopement portraits really gives you so many opportunities to find unique photo locations that you may not have known about otherwise.

Sunset drives, coconut cheers, and jungle adventures – who could ask for more?

I’m always dedicated to getting the shot. I hung out of the Jeep on this Maui mountain highway to get these road shots. Totally worth it!

If all of that wasn’t enough, we ended the day the only way you should in Hawaii – at a luau. This was such an amazing experience I’ll never forget, I wouldn’t have changed a thing. It’s so nice when you click so well with the couple you’re working with. And the breathtaking views don’t hurt either! I’d love to get back to Maui for another beachy destination elopement soon.
